Textile sculpture – Sewing a face
In this workshop, you will explore the textile sculpture technique I have been developing since 2011. We work as sustainably as possible, using recycled and repurposed materials whenever we can.
The workshop has been held in a wide range of settings since 2018. Annually since 2019 as part of the embroidery courses and programs at Handarbetets Vänners Skola in Stockholm. Other schools and institutions include Nyckelviksskolan in Stockholm, Stenebyskolan in Dals Långed, Sätergläntan – Institutet för slöjd och hantverk in Insjön, and Leksands Folkhögskola, among others.
I also host workshops in my own studio, where participants sew surrounded by both finished and ongoing sculpture projects. The groups are usually a wonderful mix of hobby enthusiasts, art students, and professionals working in art, craft, and theatre — everyone is welcome.
If you are interested in this one-day workshop, please get in touch. It is often combined with the “Sewing a Hand” workshop, which adds an additional day. Shorter versions of 2–4 hours are also possible, as well as extended workshops that include constructing and sewing the body and body parts.
The workshops can be held in Swedish or English.
